A Serene Drive to Tripuranthakam

After a dedicated Devi Navratri celebration, Sabitha was eager to continue her spiritual journey by visiting a nearby Devi temple. Upon Subha’s suggestion, we decided to head to Tripuranthakam, located near Guntur in Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh. The drive was scenic and peaceful, with the weather being perfect - clear skies, picturesque clouds, and layers of green hills made the journey visually stunning.

Our drive took us through Nagarjuna Sagar, and we soon spotted a sign for Ettipothala Waterfalls. Sabitha’s excitement kicked in, and we made a spontaneous stop. The falls were beautiful, surrounded by lush greenery, and we took our time to enjoy the views. We captured a few photos and then visited the nearby Eka Mukhi Datta Peetham, a sacred and peaceful site. Along with the Datta Peetham, we also visited the Yoga Lakshmi Devi temple, where the Goddess is worshipped in the form of Madhumati Devi, and the Ranganatha Swami temple, both adding a special spiritual touch to our journey.

Now time to head towards our target destination the Bala Tripurasundari temple in Tripuranthakam. We arrived around 4:30 PM, on this auspicious day of VijayaDasami. Pujaris were on a break after a day long VijayaDasami rituals.  Fortunately, the queue was short, and we used the time to recite hymns and slokas of Devi, fully immersing ourselves in the divine energy of the place.

When we finally had darshan of Mata Bala Tripurasundari. It was an awe-inspiring experience. Her mesmerizing idol (situated in a lake), with her loving and peaceful expression, filled us with a sense of deep contentment. The darshan, on this auspicious Vijayadasami day, felt truly special, a moment of divine connection and peace.

After the darshan, we made our way to the Tripuranthakeswara temple, located on a hill right across from the Bala Tripurasundari temple. This temple, dedicated to Parvathi (in the form of Skandamata) sametha Tripuranthakeswara (Lord Shiva). The temple on the hilltop added to the spiritual atmosphere, and we performed archana at the temple, feeling a sense of fulfillment once again.

This spontaneous trip to Tripuranthakam, with its blend of natural beauty and spiritual experiences, was a perfect day. The peaceful darshans at the temples, combined with the serene landscapes, made for a deeply enriching and memorable journey.

For those planning a visit to Tripuranthakam, I highly recommend looking into the wealth of literature available online about the importance of this sacred site. There’s an abundance of information on the temples and their “Sthala Puranas” (local legend) which provide rich historical and spiritual context. Rather than duplicating that material, I encourage you to explore it before your trip to enhance your experience.
